Children’s Dentistry in Ballarat: Compassionate, Gentle Care for Every Child
Maintaining regular dental care during childhood is paramount, as this leads to healthier teeth and smile into adulthood. At Potter Dental, we offer Medicare Bulk-Bill for children aged between 2-17 years old.
We recommend routine checkups for children as the most effective way to maintain healthy teeth and gums and to reduce the risk of toothache.
Checkups would normally be combined with professional cleaning a little later, from the early teenage years onwards.
The federal government contributes up to $1000 per child over two consecutive years, which covers general and preventative dental treatments including examinations, X-rays, cleaning, fissure sealants, fillings, extractions, as well as other dental services.
To find out if your child is eligible for treatment under the Child Dental Benefit Schedule visit your Medicare express plus app or contact reception on 5338 8412
Focused on Preventive Care
Our priority is to help your child maintain a healthy smile for life. Preventive treatments like fluoride applications, dental sealants, and routine hygiene appointments help protect against cavities and gum disease, setting the foundation for strong, healthy teeth.
We emphasize educating both parents and children about the importance of good oral hygiene practices, ensuring a lifelong habit of brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits.
We recommend that a child should have their first dental visit by their 1st birthday. This allows your child’s oral development and growth to be monitored. After all, prevention is the best medicine!
What to Expect at Your Child's First Dental Visit
We want to create an enjoyable experience for our young kids. During their very first visit, it might be as simple as a ride with mummy or daddy on the dental chair, to get familiarized with the surroundings. If they don’t like to show their teeth, don’t stress, it will come naturally. If they do, then it’s a bonus. It’s always a gentle approach to get them used to seeing the dentist. With time, those routine dental visits will create great habits throughout life.
